Gest’Up: Identifying Key Skills to Support Labour Market Inclusion

On 29 May 2026, Postal 3 held a focus group at one of its training centres in Vigo, bringing together nine professionals, including trainers, training consultants and business representatives, working in or connected to the cleaning and social and healthcare sectors. The participants discussed the need to identify the professional tasks and gestures that are most relevant and important to teach to people facing barriers to labour market inclusion in Spain. The aim is to help these individuals access valuable employment opportunities by equipping them with the skills needed to perform these tasks effectively.

Drawing on the participants’ experience and contributions, a solid framework has been established for compiling a catalogue of professional skills that links the characteristics of these individuals with the actual needs of the Spanish labour market, particularly in the region of Galicia.

On 29 September 2026, UNESSA brought together various stakeholders from the care and support sector in Brussels to address a key challenge: how can employers better support recruitment, training and employee retention in a sector facing labour shortages? CEC, AGFE and Postal 3 took part in the discussions, which covered topics including mentoring, skills validation and continuing professional development.

The exchanges highlighted several ways to better respond to training needs, strengthen existing tools and facilitate workers’ pathways into employment and mobility. These reflections are closely aligned with the Gest’Up project, which aims to better identify and recognise the key professional tasks and gestures involved in occupations facing labour shortages.
